A Great Dane puppy was found by kind rescuers after it was left abandoned in the dumpster. When it was found the dog is a terrible state.

The puppy was dehydrated, starved and covered with sores, unable to stand up due to exhaustion and hunger.

The shelter which cared for the dog said he was “dehydrated, extremely emaciated with a Body Score Condition of 1 out of 9 (1 is the worst possible score), abrasions and sores throughout his body, and barely able to support his frail body.”

The puppy, who was named Lucky, has made an amazing recovery, tripling his body weight.

Now Lucky, who is currently being kept by the Arizona Humane Society (AHS), is up for adoption.

The AHS is waiving adoption fees for any dogs over 50 pounds today due to being at critical capacity.

Thankfully Lucky, being one of the largest breeds in the world, fits easily into this category. Male Great Danes can reach up to 32 inches tall. They are heavy and can weigh anywhere from around 100 to 120 pounds. Female Great Danes can reach up to 120 pounds and grow up to 30 inches tall.

The AHS said: “Those interested in adopting Lucky or any of the amazing pets currently looking for their forever homes at AHS, are encouraged to visit //azhumane.org/adopt for more information.”

Lucky is far from the only needy dog available to adopt from the AHS. Three-year-old Duncan loves toys and leaning on people. He’s energetic and loves treats.

Labrador Ed is only seven months old. He loves tug-of-war and the zoomies. Sweet Staffordshire Terrier mix Angel is seven. She loves belly rubs and snuggling.

Hearts were warmed by a story of animal friendship when an abandoned cat and a dog formed an adorable relationship

The cat and dog have become inseparable since arriving at an animal shelter in one of the strongest bonds staff have ever seen.

Employees at Jackson County Animal Shelter (JCAS) say the pair have been “glued together” since their family left them, despite cats and dogs having a long-standing reputation as archenemies.
