Arsenal threw away another two-goal lead as their Premier League title hopes took a major blow at the London Stadium. West Ham came back from two goals down after Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard had scored for the visitors. Express Sport looks at how each Arsenal player did on a potentially defining afternoon for Mikel Arteta‘s side.

Aaron Ramsdale – 5

Ramsdale was the star of the show in earning Arsenal a point at Anfield. But he should have saved Jarrod Bowen’s equaliser.

Ben White – 7

White laid on the assist for Jesus to score from close range. He continues to prove he is so much more than a central defender playing at right-back.

Rob Holding – 5

Holding didn’t have his worst game at the back. But the drop off compared to William Saliba is so big that it would be fair to argue the Frenchman’s absence has led to the recent shortcomings in defence.

Gabriel – 5

Gabriel gave away the penalty which saw West Ham get back into the game. Replays showed his countryman Lucas Paqueta was smart in winning the spot-kick but VAR was never going to overturn David Coote’s on-field decision.

Kieran Tierney – 6

Tierney made his first league start since Boxing Day due to the absence of Oleksandr Zinchenko. He tried his best to play inverted as the Ukraine star does but it is clear he is not 100 per cent comfortable in that role.

Thomas Partey – 3

Arguably one of his worst performances in an Arsenal shirt, certainly this season. Partey inexplicably gave the ball away on the edge of his own box which led to West Ham’s penalty and was booked minutes later for a foul he so rarely makes.

Martin Odegaard – 6

Odegaard had gone six games without a goal for club and country. He doubled Arsenal’s lead when he volleyed in from close range but was unable to have the creative influence required for the remainder of the game.

Granit Xhaka – 6

Xhaka tried his best to drive Arsenal forward from midfield. He didn’t have many standout moments in the match.

Bukayo Saka – 4

Saka was quiet at Anfield and followed that up with a poor display today. His missed penalty at 2-1 could end up being a defining moment in the title race. Arsenal need their best player back on form ASAP.

Gabriel Jesus – 7

Jesus scored his fourth goal in three matches to put Arsenal into the lead. The Brazilian was everywhere at times and his performances show just how well the Gunners did in his absence.

Gabriel Martinelli – 6

Martinelli has now registered a goal or an assist in eight of his last nine league matches. He laid the ball on the plate for Odegaard to score at the back post but, like the other attackers, struggled after West Ham came back into the game.

Substitutes

Leandro Trossard – 6

Trossard made an impact when he came on for Jesus but was unable to provide a telling contribution.

Jorginho – 5

Came on for Partey and steadied the midfield at times.

Reiss Nelson – N/A

Fabio Vieira – N/A

Eddie Nketiah – N/A
