Fortunately, a woman named Chantelle Fen has discovered an unexpected prop that perfectly fits onto the opening of a wine bottle, by surprise.
The content creator has been hailed a “genius” after sharing her clever trick on TikTok and amassing more than 600,000 likes.
She declared: “I don’t know who needs to hear this but you can use water bottle lids on wine bottles.”
For the hack to work, the lid needs to be pressed firmly onto the wine bottle opening, ensuring the seal is tight so no air enters.
The hack inspired many of Chantelle’s viewers to try it themselves, while others were left pondering if it would work on a prosecco bottle.
One person joked that they would never need it, given that the bottle would be empty before they had had a chance to seal it.
Those without a water cap at hand can try inserting the cork back into the bottle, by wrapping a strip of wax paper around it so it slides back in.
If wine drinkers wish to prolong the freshness of the alcohol for a few more days, they should the bottle is stored upright. This will reduce the surface area of the liquid exposed to oxygen, thus protecting the body of the wine from souring.
Additionally, wine drinks should be afraid of storing their open bottle of red in the fridge.
Experts at Wine & Spirit say: “A re-closed bottle of red or white wine in the fridge can stay relatively fresh for up to five days.”
