Davidovich ‘s**t himself’ and hit underarm serve
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was 8-5 up in a final set tiebreak against Holger Rune after almost four hours on court. The Spaniard had already failed to convert two match points on the sixth seed’s serve earlier in the set.
Rune stormed back to win the next three points in a row and Davidovich Fokina suffered a huge lapse in judgement, hitting an underarm serve. His opponent won the point and went on to close out the match as a result.
Afterwards, Davidovich Fokina told reporters: “I s**t myself and I didn’t want to play that point.” He’s hoping things will be different next time though. “I was trembling and It’s one more experience that I take with me. I don’t know what would have happened if I had played brave,” he said.
