These authors are among the most successful in the UK, in the first half of this year, their books were flying off the shelves but the author in top spot might not be who you think.
According to The Bookseller, the volume and value of books these authors sold puts them as some of the UK’s most read.
Between them are many chart topping bestsellers which have become household names for many Brits – even if you havn’t heard of every author, it’s nealy guaranteed you’ll know one of their books.
From children’s literature to cook books, these authors have taken the UK by storm.
It’s been a tough year for non-fiction after The Bookseller reported a 6.8% year-on-year slump for the genre.
The top author is on track to claim top spot for a fifth consecutive year as the UK’s bestselling author and she has even been rewarded for her contributions to literature by royalty.
10. Jeff Kinney
Kinney is the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and he is well deserving of a place in the top 10.
He sold 450,162 books in the first half of this year and he retains a reputation as a successful children’s writer.
The value of these sales is estimated at £2,760,220.
8. Colleen Hoover
This American author is known for her romance books, the most famous of which being It Ends With Us which was released as a film starring Blake Lively this year.
Hoover sold 511,461 books up until June, for a value of £3,022,985 and there’s no doubt this figure will have increased even more following the release of the screen adaptation.
7. Fiona Watt
Children’s author, Fiona Watt, author of That’s Not My Dinosaur, has mastered the genre with an impressive 527,749 books sold.
Her sales amassed to a huge value of £3,029,357.
