It’s been 18 years since The Rolling Stones released an original studio album and seven since their covers record Blue and Lonesome.

Since then, Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have lost their drummer Charlie Watts, who died two years ago aged 80.

It’s been rumoured since then that the trio have been working on new material with posthumous recordings of their late bandmate.

Then last week fake glazing ads for a company called Hackney Diamonds were featured in the Hackney Gazette.

And when signing up to their website for updates it soon became clear that this is the name of The Rolling Stones’ upcoming new album.

HackneyDiamonds.com now has the band’s tongue logo and a countdown to Wednesday, September 6th at 1:30pm BST, when an official announcement of the record is expected and the release of its first single, rumoured to be called Angry.

According to The Sun’s music industry insider: “The reception from the Stones’ fans to the announcement has been incredible. Angry is a good shout, but they’ll just have to wait and see.

“The Stones are so proud of Hackney Diamonds and they cannot wait for their fans to hear it.”

As for why fans think the first single is called Angry, it’s because the fake glazing ad read: “Welcome to Hackney Diamonds, specialists in glass repair. Don’t get angry, get it fixed.

The outlet also reported that The Rolling Stones’ new album is set to be released in October. And we’d expected the first single Angry to be launched at the end of that countdown a week today.
