Princess Anne has fabulous style and can rock all kinds of looks. From chic suits to riding gear, and colourful hats to coat dresses, the Princess Royal has an incredibly eclectic wardrobe.

Whatever she’s wearing, she always looks great, and personal stylist Melissa Lund told Express.co.uk why.

“I think Princess Anne is fabulous because I don’t think she gives two hoots about what anyone thinks of her lifestyle or fashion choices!”

She continued: “Anne has a good body – she’s around 5’7, slim and has nice legs, so she’s got a good figure for showing clothes if she wants to.”

Now this might be down to genetics – after all, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were both very slim.

However, Princess Anne’s athleticism might come into play too when it comes to looking good in clothes.

Indeed, Melissa said: “As a world-class equestrian, she’s toned as well.

“She has maintained her slim figure which means that she can still wear clothes in her wardrobe she has had for decades.”

However, while it is very handy that Anne can still fit into the clothes she wore several decades ago, she runs the risk of her wardrobe looking outdated.

The expert offered Princess Anne some advice for working her wardrobe a little better. She said: “I’d really like to see her mixing vintage pieces with modern items.

“This old-new mix ensures the wearer stays relevant (although I’m sure that Princess Anne is not going to worry about that!).

“Princess Anne is known to recycle her clothes but unlike the Princess of Wales, she doesn’t seem to alter them at all. The clothes get retired for a while (several decades sometimes) and they are then reworn, exactly as they were.”

Melissa would also “suggest a change of hairstyle”. Princess Anne has rocked the same voluminous, swept-back locks for decades but perhaps a revamp would make the royal look more stylish.

Melissa Lund also spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about Princess Anne’s most “controversial” outfit choices – “she doesn’t give two hoots”.
