Over the summer Passion of the Christ star Jim Caviezel’s Sound of Freedom movie has been a massive sleeper hit across the pond.
Based on the true story of Tim Ballard, the film follows missions to rescue children from sex traffickers in Colombia.
Originally shot in 2018, it’s become one of the most successful independent films in history with over $183 million made worldwide on a budget of $14.5 million.
Much of Sound of Freedom’s success is down to Angel Studios’ Paid It Forward initiative.
At the end of the movie, Caviezel appears in a special message encouraging audiences to buy cinema tickets via a QR code for people who can’t afford to see the movie or otherwise wouldn’t, to help grow awareness of the ongoing horrors of child trafficking and modern slavery.
Now Sound of Freedom has been released in the UK and the Paid It Forward initiative is available here too.
To request a free ticket, audiences can go to Angel.com here to sign up for a free Angels Studios account.
You can then choose your location, date and showtime to see Sound of Freedom at your local cinema for free.
Despite mixed reviews, Sound of Freedom has a 99 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an A+ CinemaScore.
So far over 17.2 million tickets have been bought and claimed at the worldwide box office, with Angel Studios noting “Pay it Forward is only included in the total when a free ticket is redeemed to watch in theaters.”
Sound of Freedom is out now in UK cinemas.
