There’s been a ton of speculation around Christopher Nolan directing the next James Bond.

The Golden Globe-winning director is very much the 007 fan and rumours have surfaced of talks with producers over him helming the reboot.

And if Nolan bagged the role, perhaps the acclaimed filmmaker would cast one of his blockbuster regulars to follow Daniel Craig.

Interestingly enough, odds have been slashed in half on his Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy, who also picked up a Golden Globe on Sunday evening and is hotly tipped to win the Best Actor Oscar this year.

Take this all with a pinch of salt, but according to Coral bookmakers, the 47-year-old Irish star has had his odds slashed from 12-1 to 6-1.

Coral’s John Hill said: “Cillian Murphy has got off to a good start to the film season in his role in Oppenheimer, and on the back of that success, he is being backed to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.”

Pushing 50, we’d be surprised if the star was cast, but if an older 007 was needed, who knows?

The other latest next Bond odds are as follows: “6-4 Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 7-2 Henry Cavill, 4-1 James Norton, 5-1 Rege-Jean Page, 6-1 Cillian Murphy, 7-1 Tom Hardy, 8-1 Jack Lowden, 12-1 Paapa Essiedu, 14-1 Callum Turner, 16-1 Richard Madden, 16-1 Sope Dirisu, 18-1 Aidan Turner.”
