“I live in an apartment complex,” one Reddit user shared to the social media platform. “My neighbour is constantly asking for favours and I’m going crazy.”

The Reddit contributor expressed how they feel guilty when they say no to such demands.

“If I say no, I get guilted into doing them anyways,” the unhappy resident shared.

“The most recent favour is picking her daughter-in-law (who lives with her) up from work every day.”

The exasperated resident explained how this dilemma even began in the first place.

“Their car is in the shop, and her husband takes the only working car to work a second shift as she is getting off.

“She works 30 minutes away, so the drive is an hour total for me. I’m friends with my neighbours, but not close enough that I feel happy about being guilted into this.”

While the demanding neighbour is paying the Reddit user around £24 per week, they still feel as though they are being taken advantage of.

“Not to mention, this stupid errand puts a huge dent in my day,” the Reddit user fumed.

“Last night after I dropped her off, I went to go get groceries and when I came home she was already there waiting for me to get home so she could ask me to run another favour.”

The frustrated neighbour added: “I don’t know what to do. I cringe every time there is a knock at my door because I feel like I’m about to get asked to do something I don’t want to.”

A fellow contributor to Reddit advised: “We all have to learn how to say no. If you don’t you’ll get taken advantage of.”

In the Reddit universe, it would seem people trying to take advantage of kindness is the norm when it comes to ever-demanding favours; do you have a similar experience?
