Manchester United icon Dwight Yorke has urged the club to make Kylian Mbappe their first statement signing when their takeover is completed.
The PSG star has publicly announced he is not going to renew his contract with the club and could now leave the Ligue 1 champions, with Real Madrid favourites to land the 24-year-old. But Yorke wants the Red Devils to show their ambition by throwing their proverbial hat into the ring for the France star once their new owners have taken charge of the club.
“I think the uncertainty with the takeover is always going to put in an element of doubt, but if I were to choose, then Kylian Mbappe would be my first choice without question,” he told Match.Center.
“He’s young, obviously he’s unproven in the Premier League but he’s got class and quality and will be there for the next seven years. In that period, I’m sure he would bring success to United.
“For me, Mbappe would be a no brainer, but until the question of where the club is going and who will take over from the Glazers is solved, there will be big question marks, because that’s the only way the club would afford him.”
