There is reportedly an ‘approval process’ that could take up to 12 weeks before its completed. If progress was made and the preferred bidder entered the exclusivity period next week then that would potentially take them into the middle of September.

The report also adds that Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘remains the favourite’ over Sheikh Jassim. The Qatari group are said to have ‘grown rather frustrated’ this week due to a lack of communication from the Raine Group, who have been brought in by the Glazers to oversee takeover talks.

But the uncertainty surrounding United’s ownership will supposedly not have any bearing on Erik ten Hag’s transfer plans.
