Say you’ve added half a banana to your smoothie and want to save the other half, there’s a hack for that too. If your banana is already peeled, you can make it last longer by sprinkling it with lemon or lime juice.
The citrus juice slows down oxidation, preserving the fruit. It may slightly change the flavour, but hopefully that won’t matter too much in your smoothie.
When in doubt, freeze your bananas. They’ll last for 30 days in the freezer and can be used for baking, whether its banana bread, banana pancakes, banana cookies or more.
