Toto Wolff has fiercely rejected a possible new F1 rule which would cap Red Bull’s performance levels.
This could help Lewis Hamilton and George Russell close the gap to Max Verstappen who has dominated since the new regulations were launched last year.
Balance of Performance (BoP) is already used in another FIA series with the World Endurance Championship adopting the tool.
He said: “If we start implementing a Balance of Performance, we will ruin this sport.
“It’s a meritocracy, where the best driver in the best car, spending the same amount of money, wins the championship.”
