A couple’s dream of renovating a Victorian house for profit took an astonishing twist when they stumbled upon a hidden chamber teeming with vintage valuables.
After settling into their new home, the pair noticed something peculiar about the layout while gazing at the exterior in disbelief at the task ahead.
A Reddit user recounted the tale: “My dad’s cousin and her husband bought an old Victorian house about 15 years ago with plans to renovate it, restore it, and sell it.
“They’d been living in it for about a month when they were outside just staring and having that ‘I can’t believe what we got ourselves into’ feeling when they noticed something weird.”
The couple spotted an unfamiliar window sandwiched between their bedroom and their daughter’s, which didn’t correspond to any room inside, reports the Mirror.
The user continued: “On the second floor, they recognised their bedroom window, and their daughter’s bedroom window by the curtains they had hung, but there was a window in between.”
Their investigation inside revealed no entrance to this enigmatic space, hinting at its hidden nature.
The post further detailed: “They went back outside and threw a ladder up to the mystery window and opened it from the outside. On the other side of the window was another bedroom, filled with fur coats, artwork, jewellery, and other misc possessions.
“There was also a regular bedroom door, so they opened it and realised that the door had been boarded and plastered over from the outside, so you wouldn’t even know it was there walking down the hallway […] Their daughter was around my age and I used to see her wearing the fur coats to school every once in a while.”
Intrigued by the mysterious sealed room, one user speculated on the possible reasons behind such an eerie decision, asking: “Tell us about the jewellery! And the other ghosts that were in there. And the person who might have lived there before.”
Another chimed in with a chilling thought: “There would be so many ghosts.”
