English Premier League club Chelsea are close to signing New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. It had been reported that Manchester United were hopeful of bringing in the MLS keeper, but Chelsea has now agreed terms with the Revolution on a £14 million move – where he could compete with their No. 1 Robert Sanchez.

Manchester United have already signed one goalkeeper in Andre Onana from Inter Milan, spending around £50 million to bring him in, but they had hoped to sign Petrovic as his backup while providing competition for the spot.

Instead, Petrovic is set to join Chelsea on a seven-year deal, multiple reports have suggested – with the 23-year-old long wanting the move away from MLS to the EPL.

According to The Athletic, a deal has been agreed between Chelsea and New England for Petrovic’s move. It has been reported that an agreement of just over £14 million has been reached between the two clubs – with the keeper also agreeing on personal terms.
