A hard working Brit has showed off the fruits of his labour after transforming a “knackered” narrowboat into a stunning Airbnb home.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), user @_JamaicaJamaica uploaded four snaps of his handy work, showcasing his floating property’s new living space, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

The boat, which is currently moored in East London, is set to hit the Airbnb market later this week. Guests will also benefit from the gorgeous design’s heating system, a shower and even a vinyl record player.

And with ample storage in every room, its the perfect rental home for a quick getaway.

“Spent the last 6 months (in my spare time) renovating a knackered 50 ft narrowboat into a floating Air BnB as a side hustle,” the brains behind the project said on Monday (May 21). “Finally finished it.”

After being inundated with requests for a link to book the boat once it goes live, others heaped praise on the man’s craftmanship.

“This is really cute,” one X user gushed. “Narrowboats aren’t wheelchair/crutch friendly for me but they always look so nice for a different type of getaway! I really love the bathroom sink and the matching copper shower! You did a great job.”

Another wrote: “Well done Sir. Beautiful work. I’d LOVE to stay on that boat. Excellent.” A third added: “Wow… stunning. Quirky and fashionable… Best of luck, sure it’ll be a huge success.”

A fourth penned: “Absolutely stunning! You are so clever. It’s beautiful. My parents lived on their narrow boat for 9 years. Didn’t renovate it but they loved it. Ash wood inside.”

And a fifth agreed: “Looks lovely, you’ve done a good job. I like the wooden floor in the living area and behind the bed in the cabin.”

Airbnb lanched in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home. Since then a further five million million more hosts around the world have welcomed a staggering 1.5 billion guests.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, Airbnb issued its financial results for the first quarter of 2024.

Co-Founder and CEO Brian Chesky revealed: “We had our best Q1 ever, with 133 million nights and experiences booked, along with double-digit supply growth across all regions. I’m proud of our strong Q1 results and look forward to another record summer travel season.”

Detailing the period from January to March, the company said: “In Q1, Nights and Experiences Booked grew to 133 million. Revenue of $2.1 billion increased 18 percent year-over-year. Q1 net income was $264 million – our most profitable first quarter ever.”
