The nation will enjoy the last bank holiday before Christmas this weekend, with many people planning some long-overdue DIY.
But before rushing down to local stores to stock up on supplies, Britons should check their local branch for changes to opening hours.
Wickes, B&Q, Screwfix and several other major homeware stores could open later and close earlier as a result of the national holiday.
B&Q
With 300 home improvement stores nationwide, the popular retailer has everything a homeowner could need for a spot of DIY.
The hardware chain told Express.co.uk that stores in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland would be “open as normal” on Saturday, Sunday, and even the bank holiday Monday.
It should be noted that opening hours vary between local branches, with some starting the day at 7am and others an hour later at 8am.
All stores, however, are expected to close at 8pm on Monday, August 28. To find out more about specific branch hours, customers can use the B&Q store finder tool.
Wickes
Britons hoping to visit their local Wickes store this weekend are in luck, with all stores expected to open as usual.
Wickes’ 230 branches nationwide will be open to customers at their normal times on Saturday, August 26, Sunday, August 27, and Monday, August 28.
The majority of shops will open between 7am and 8pm on the bank holiday Monday, though local restrictions will apply so customers should check their local store.
Those shopping in-store can even make the most of the August paint event which started on August 10 and will finish on September 6.
Screwfix
Screwfix is yet another retailer expected to operate normal trading hours on the summer bank holiday Monday.
Stores across the country will be open from 7 am to 8pm, though some exclusions may apply.
The brand operates more than 840 stores nationwide, with more than 10,000 products stocked in each one.
