Taylor Swift has been ruthlessly mocked after a video of the Shake It Off star awkwardly shaking her hips at one of her recent Edinburgh shows emerged online.
Critics of the global superstar have slammed the star’s dancing, while hundreds of Swifties have come to her defence.
The clip went viral as Taylor finished her first UK stints in Scotland and Liverpool before heading to Cardiff tonight (June 18).
TikTok user @harryalex98 shared the original video of Taylor having the time of her life shimmying in a fringed gold minidress to the song Fearless.
Although it was clear the singer was just having fun and her erratic dance moves weren’t part of the planned choreography, Swift-skeptics seized the opportunity to lambast her performing skills.
Her dancing quickly spread on X (formerly Twitter), with one user mocking Taylor: “she stuck her tounge thinking she ate im crying.” (sic)
“Every time I see this clip I picture a young woman on vacation in Hawaii learning how to Hula dance for the first time,” another person said.
A third exclaimed: “Taylor Swift can’t sing, can’t dance, barely plays a few chords on the guitar and piano, htf she is that big??”
“I don’t even mean this in a hateful way i’m just genuinely curious..” a fourth critic added.
“How can someone be one of the most successful musicians of a generation, and have not a drop of rhythm.”
However, Taylor has a legion of fans who leapt to her defence and made it clear she was being goofy on purpose in the divisive dancing clip.
“God forbid Taylor has a little fun on stage shaking her cute fringe dress,” one Swiftie fumed.

“This isn’t even part of the 3 hour choreography she has to do each night. You people need to shut up.”
Another fan highlighted a quote from her Person of the Year interview for Time Magazine last year.
Taylor explained, “I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought.”
Clearly, the Midnights superstar was just having fun during a break from the choreography, but the viral dancing proves pretty much anything Taylor does could be cause for debate.
