The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.

It was founded by Prince Harry, with the first games taking place in 2014.

In September 2023, The Invictus Games took place in Dusseldorf, Germany, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle showing incredible support for the 500-odd competitors.

Body language expert Judi James spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about Meghan’s behaviour during the games.

Judi commented: “Meghan’s body language at the Invictus Games sent out the same message that she has been sending out on all of her appearances recently, which is a strong sense of determination and a focus to retain high levels of branding that involves status projections that are both regal and A-list celebrity.

“Arriving late meant her body language with Harry was less synchronised at first. At the previous Games they were seamless as they depicted the strength of their love and the romantic, idealistic side of their relationship on the stage and at the games themselves.

“She introduced Harry onto the stage and they kissed as she handed over the mic. Harry stood lost for words and glowing with love as the crowd went wild.

“This time Meghan arrived out on stage alone, looking back to see if Harry was behind her. She moved towards him to link a hand into his arm but when she passed over to him he ignored her and shot to the front of the stage instead.”

She observed the royal couple displaying some romantic body language during the eight-day games.

She claimed: “The couple warmed to their body language theme during the event, giving the fans what they wanted with some hand-holding and even a huge cuddle when they were surrounded by audience members and Meghan’s tireless hugging and selfies showed she is still very much part of ‘The Invictus Family’.

“She stood clapping for around thirty minutes at the end and happily joined in a line of song when Sam Ryder thrust the mic at her during his number.”

Judi opined: “There were moments when Meghan even looked like a ‘royal in training’ again though, notably the one where she marched out at the head of the group of soldiers that were awarding some of the medals.

“Even Meghan managed to look slightly tentative here, touching her hair in a small preening gesture to suggest some inner anxiety or discomfort at looking out of place in her shorts and casual shoes.”

Meghan looked absolutely radiant on September 16 at the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games, beaming and clapping.

The expert said: “Meghan had a very strong presence in the audience for the finale but there was no on-stage speech or any mention from Harry during his.”
