It’s been two years since ABBA released their new album Voyage and now Agnetha Fältskog has launched her first new song in a decade.
She last put out a solo album with 2013’s A and was convinced to get back into the studio by her producer Jörgen Elofsson.
Today sees the release of the new single Where Do We Go From Here? which you can listen to below.
The pop track was penned by Elofsson with young Swedish artist Kamilla Bayrak and it soon became apparent it would be right for the ABBA star.
Speaking with the BBC, the 73-year-old said: “Originally, it was another girl singing and I said, ‘I don’t know if I can do this’. But I did – and it came out very well, I think.”
Agnetha continued: “I was a bit tense and a bit nervous because when you get older, your voice changes.
“I think my voice has dropped a little bit in tone or in pitch. So I maybe sound a little more… not dark, but lower.
“But I still can express a lot and I like to interpret the songs. And I did it, and I think it came out very well.”
Elofsson said: “She doesn’t really believe in herself from time to time. But when she does, that’s when it comes out – that voice from when she was 15 years old and started singing.”
The track is the only new single on the upcoming A+ album, a remixed version of 2013’s A with the song reworked as more radio-friendly pop anthems.
Agnetha said: “I heard one of the old songs on the radio and I started to think, what would happen if you would remix and do another version of the album?
“Not because you don’t like [the original], but because it has been 10 years, and what can you do with it?”
The conversation then turned to the rumours of an ABBA reunion performance at Eurovision next year. After all, Sweden is hosting and it will be the 50th anniversary of the band’s iconic win with Waterloo.
Despite Benny and Björn denying it, she replied: “You never know anything about ABBA – but I don’t dare to say anything because I don’t know what they are planning. I’d rather be quiet.”
