Gail Berman, a producer for Elvis, told The Hollywood Reporter that Lisa Marie was instrumental in bringing Elvis to life.

She said: “[Lisa Marie] decided, completely independent of us, that she wanted to be supportive of it, Austin and Baz, and she opened up her home at Graceland to us.”

Lisa Marie also welcomed the film’s production team into Graceland, and went on to end a long-standing protocol which began when Elvis died on August 16, 1977.

Gail said: “Not only did we do a Memphis premiere at Graceland, but [Lisa Marie] threw a private event for us, a barbecue at Graceland where she opened up The Jungle Room to us to have a cocktail party – and apparently that hadn’t been done in many, many years.”

The Jungle Room green-clad room in Graceland filled with stunning antique leather and hardwood furniture and finishings.

This incredibly notable room was dubbed “The Den” by Elvis, and was the very place he recorded his two final albums – From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee & Moody Blue.

Gail added that Lisa Marie was “very, very happy” with the final cut of Elvis.

Lisa Marie herself spoke out about the movie just before it hit cinemas, and laid particular praise on the Elvis actor Austin Butler.

She wrote on her Instagram account: “There [are] no words to describe it. It’s just so important, that movie, on so many levels, and I’m so proud of him [Butler] and Baz.

“I don’t know how to describe them, but… all of his mannerisms. He absolutely nailed it.”
