Tempers had threatened to boil over earlier in the game, as at half-time some players reportedly had to be separated on their way to the dressing rooms while “defiant chants” were heard from the crowd.
Marca have claimed that Torres was approached by supporters at the ground and questioned over his team’s ill-discipline, having picked up seven yellow cards during the game, but Torres lost his composure and angrily reacted – calling one supporter a “clown”.
Both former players have only recently begun their coaching journeys, though the pair are highly-rated despite their inability to keep composure on the touchline. Former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez told Mundo Deportivo: “Fernando Torres has great abilities. Equally, Alvaro Arbeloa. You could already see they stood out during the course.”
