Mikel Arteta has challenged his Arsenal players to continue to compete with Manchester United if they are taken over by Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim.
United could be the third English club owned by a nation-state if Sheikh Jassim beats Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the pursuit of the Red Devils.
Arsenal face Saudi-backed Newcastle later today and Arteta says his players must live up to the competition of the increasing finances in the Premier League.
He said: “We have to compete with those teams, for sure, because we are Arsenal Football Club.
“The demands are to be the best in everything we do, so we have to find a way to do that.”
