Erik ten Hag has promised Manchester United fans his side will “give everything” to wreck local rivals Manchester City’s treble dreams in the FA Cup final. United will face Pep Guardiola’s men in Wembley showpiece in a first ever all-Manchester final on June 4 after edging past Brighton on penalties.

And the Red Devils boss has vowed his side will give “100 per cent” in an effort to scupper City’s shot at matching their historic 1999 treble of Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup. “We will give everything and when I say everything, that is everything, more than 100 per cent you can’t do, the fans can rely on that,” he said.

“But we want to give that against City, we want to give the fans that.” United remain the only English side to have landed a Champions League, a top flight title and an FA Cup in the same season in 1999.

And while City are favourites for all three trophies they are still fighting for, United have beaten them once this season already winning 2-1 in the league in January. “We have to play the perfect game, it was the perfect game we played this season and we have to go again, we know that,” he said.

“But first of all we have to focus on different occasions because we have to be in the top four. I understand the feelings from the United fans about it.

“We will do eveyrthing to give them that, to give them a second trophy, everything the team and I have we will do give everything. We can do it becaue we proved it but it’s not an easy job.

“City is a great team but we are also a great team with great players.” Roberto De Zerbi believes Brighton will be stronger for the experience of losing but backed his players to finish the season by grabbing a European place.

“You have to say we deserved to win and achieve our target,” said the Brighton boss. “I am proud today because we lost a game and we have to progress and we have a lot of young players with big big potential.

“We made some mistakes in the final pass around the goal area but I’m really pleased with the performance from my players.

“We have to close this page and think about the next game on Wednesday in Nottingham. We have a lot of games and want to get into Europe.”
